MonaLisa Touch

What is the MonaLisa Touch?

The MonaLisa Touch is a laser designed to help postmenopausal women with gynecological health concerns. Treatments last just a few minutes, are noninvasive, and don’t require any downtime.

The heat of the laser stimulates the tissues inside and outside your vagina. The stimulation encourages your body to produce more collagen, a skin-strengthening compound, to strengthen and tighten the vaginal tissue.

What issues can MonaLisa Touch address?

Many women experience vaginal pain and discomfort during and after menopause. Specific issues that Drs. Rachel and Pamorn Kulsak treat with MonaLisa Touch include:

  • Vaginal dryness
  • Painful intercourse
  • Thinning tissue
  • Vaginal itching and burning

Discuss your symptoms when you come in for your appointment at Fox Valley Comprehensive Women's Health Care to determine if this innovative treatment is appropriate for you.

What should I expect during treatment?

When you come in for MonaLisa Touch vaginal treatment, you lie on an exam table as Dr. Rachel or Pamorn Kulsak gently place a sterile vaginal probe into your vagina.

This probe delivers the gentle laser energy that triggers healing and collagen production. The probe also addresses the outer vaginal tissue.

Does the MonaLisa Touch laser treatment hurt?

Expect to feel some warmth and a slight tingling during your MonaLisa Touch procedure. Most women tolerate these sensations well and report no discomfort. The procedure does not require anesthesia.

What should I expect following treatment?

You may have minor side effects for a few days that include mild vaginal bleeding or vaginal discharge following your treatment. You may also experience temporary, slight swelling, redness, or tenderness of your vaginal tissue.

You can return to your regular activities following a MonaLisa Touch session. Drs. Rachel and Pamorn Kulsak at Fox Valley Comprehensive Women's Health Care advise you to avoid vaginal intercourse or putting anything inside your vagina for two to three days.

How many treatments will I need?

Expect to see results after just one treatment session with MonaLisa Touch; however, you benefit most from three treatments, spaced approximately 40-60 days apart. Drs. Rachel and Pamorn Kulsak explain how many sessions you’re likely to require when they review your personalized treatment plan.
